HI guys, Im having a bit of a problem with my 13-56 in my 91 F-250 Diesel
In 2 wheel drive it works relatively fine. Put it to 4 high - only the rear driveshat turns. Put it in 4 low - works like it should.
Sems to be making noises since the first time it would not engague into 4 high. - Usually when shifting gears or on acceleration od letting off throtle compleatly.
just had the same problem in my 89 f250, happened twice, shouldnt be too long now before your 2wd doesnt work either, at least thats what happened to mine, not to long after i had that problem did the whole transfer case not work, was told that on the shift forks inside the case... they have plastic bushings that just wear out causing the gears to not engage.
The transmission shop pulled her apart and gave me realy great news. The planetary gear on the input shaft is worn out. There is litteraly a quarter inch of play in the assembly. Can you believe that they want 700.00 CAN $ for a new gear and a total of 2200 CAN to rebuild it. Bend me over or what? Anyway they said the forks were good. Seems like Ill be making a trip to the states to bring back a re-man for just over a grand Canadian.
