Nothing the same size turns as sharp as the Dodge that I know of!

Your extended cab long bed Ford of 3' or so will have a wheel base about 2' longer than a standard cab LWB or extended cab SWB Dodge. The Dual rear doesn't help. I guess the turning radious of the new 05' Ford comes close to the Dodge of the same model. But the leaf sprung front end of the 04' Ford is limited. Coils on the Dodge and the new ford allow for a shorter turning radious. You should try my old 88 Ford SC LWB. I need four or five lanes of Interstate 5 to turn around. Most folks don't like it when I do that -especially my passengers!

Almost 13mpg when pulling 12,000lbs? Ask the guys with the Ford, Dodge or GM gas V10's what they would get if pulling that much. I don't know that new low mileage Dura-Isuzu or Cummins would get any better fuel economy with those 4.10:1 gears.

When your tires wear out, go to a size or two taller, (forefit some low end torque), and you'll get better numbers on the highway.

You know what's funny. I never really worried about fuel milage till I owned my 1st superduty with a 7.3L. I have always reset my trip odometer in all my vehicals and always knew when I would need fuel. But for some reason once you get a diesel you always check the MPG and check what everyone else is getting no matter what brand they have. Kinda like bragging rites, I guess. I read where others are getting about 4 MPG better than mine in all cases except while trailering, then I'm the same. But you know in the end I really don't care. I love my ford diesels and will probally never go back to a gasser in a truck. You can't beat these things for pulling a trailer. And in the end the MPG's are pretty good with all things considered.

With over 25K miles on my '04, I'm averaging over 16 mpg in mostly city driving. It's done better on highway trips, but for an overall rating it's 16.39 mpg over the last 1500 miles. That's 1.11 mpg better than the first 1500 miles, just to give you an idea of how the motor is breaking in.

I haven't towed lately, so I don't have relevant figures for that.

The truck is a FX4 CC. Bone stock. 3.73:1 rear axle.

(Knock on wood) Absolutely no issues with the truck, but I'm still running into people that think the 6.0 is junk. Some of these guys are even Ford 7.3L owners. I don't know what to tell them, other than mine runs fine. 02/04 build date, sorry I don't know where the engine build date is.

I've had a 7.3L and the new 6.0L. Both seam to get about the same MPG no matter how I'm driving them. The biggest advantage with the 6.0L is the 5 speed automatic. That was always my complaint with the 7.3L was it needed an extra gear.
