4X4 Problems - Please Help

Problems with my 4WD - Please Help

I own a 1997 F250, 5.4 Triton. It has push button 4WD w/ automatic hubs. It recently stopped working. When put into 4WD drive, the switch works and when put on jacks, the front driveshaft running from the transfer case to the front diff. turns. From there I dont know what the problem is. I would say probably hubs and want to switch to manual but dont want to spend the money until I'm sure its the hubs. Is there a sensor anywhere to check. How does it work? Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have a 1997 F250 with 4X4 problems. It has push-botton 4WD with auto hubs. When put into 4WD, switch works and front drive shaft running from the transfer case to the fron differential turns. From there I dont know. I would say hubs were gone but wanted to make sure before I converted to manual. Any suggestions? IS there a sensor or specific fuse I should checK?

Just go buy some manual locking hubs. That is the only reason its not working the hubs aren't locking in. Unless maybe you have two broken axles. Go get some manual hubs because when you turn them there locked. So many things go wrong with those automatic ones i don't know why anyone would ever want them.

Thanks a million. I just didn't want to spend the money if come to find out is was just some sensor on the front diff or something.

I would ask the dealer about fuse locations for the hubs. and if their is a common problem with this setup.
If both sides went at the same time it is probly something electricail/vacum related.
