Would this work??

To put this into context, the vehicle is a '77 F150 4X4 (460/C6) with the NP205. This truck has become a big street rod so forget about the front differential. Now after looking at the twin stick setup for the transfer case I was thinking I could install a rear gear ratio so the truck is setup for performance while in low (transfer case) and then have my highway gearing when in Hi (transfer case). Yes I understand I can't engage the front but I'm curious if the transfer case would take the abuse of the higher RPM. For my application it seemed cheaper than a gear vendors OD since I only need to change the rear gears.
Well it's your turn, what's going to go wrong? After a night shift the ideas always seem so good (then you wake up and wonder what the he** you were thinking!).
Thanks.

John.

The transfercase is not recommended to be in low range at speeds above 45mph.
