Hey guys I dont think Im gonna get my lift done till the summer due to lack of funds...But I was wondering what other kinds of mods I can do to make my truck more offroad capable and keep me busy...this is my last week of school till winter vacation and I would like to do some things to my truck..I wont be able to drive again till june do to an angry cop..and a torn up field that looked like a good place to go 4x4ing little did i kno there where cops back ther investageting what looked like to me a stolen vehicle...Anyways let me know..sorry about the long post...
did i ask if you can weld? if not....learn! then get a welder.
make a set of beadlocks
there's millions of things you can do but it really depends on your funds for one and your skills for another. also what do you plan on using your truck for primarily?
Well just driveing to and from school but not till next year now But I get it back right before summer starts so in the summer just to work and back and of course fishing and 4x4 so its gonna be used for everything..I dont kno how to weld and I dont even have a garage so all my work will be outside..
first, go to home depot, buy some wood, then build a garage.....then go to harbor frieght and buy a welder, and the book"welding for dummies", just messin with ya, your truck looks pretty straight outside, but i see your in alaska, they probably have some pretty nasty salt for the roads up there, whats your undercarriage look like?? you could replace things like, bushings, mounts, shocks, and while your doing that clean off the frame and stuff, then spray some kind of undercoat on it.....unless yours is already done or clean, that should give you something to do thats cheap and protects your ride, and it doesnt require a shop to do it.........
I would suggest cutting the fenders to clear the bigger tires. Also, I would say put a hitch on the front and get a clevis. this way you have a tow hook at both ends. A way to get yourself (or others) out is pretty essential offroading. It can be handy on road too, when you pull little old ladies out of snow banks
How bout doing a shackle flip, using your compontents you already have you can gain a couple inches and probably won't have to change your shocks or driveshaft.
