The "moved threads" account
Since people don't seem to read my messages at the top of my forum....I have decided to make a sticky telling you exactly how many threads I move outta this forum each day since mods don't leave any evidence of the moves. This may help you understand how many I move per day...and how important it is to make sure you're thread is placed in the correct forum. I'd like to know what it's gonna take to get people to learn how to put their thread in the correct forum. I'm open for suggestions in helping me with this issue...
So far today, I'm at 17.
*17....12/13/04 @ 5:45p
*5......12/14/04 @ 7:21p
*22.....12/16/04 @ 1p
*6-7....12/16/04 @ 8p
*5....12/17/04 @ 9:45p
10.....12/18.04 - 12/20/04
22.....12/19/04 - 12/26/04 - not bad guys!

*Since the 26th I have moved like 4-5 a day, some more some less. That means that in the last 3 weeks or so I've moved over 160+ threads!

A moderator's job is never done.

There used to be a placeholder for a moved thread - what happened to it? I've seen it recently, too.
Suggestions? I have no idea, I just wanted to point you in the direction of human nature, a little insight if you may.
We don't leave any evidence of a move, it simply disappears for cleanlyness.
Not many people will read or do read stickies...

Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
I posted awhile back about my axle in my 96 f-150 in this forum. The reason being it was a mid year change for the 96 in 97 they went to a complete different setup. I beleive that this was model and year specific and needed to be posted here. What I'm trying to say is sometimes this is the best forum for our question even though this is not the right forum. I have posted in other forums and have never received a answer and I knew I could of had it answered in this forum.
What would you suggest for situations like these.
Depending on how picky you want to be 90% should be posted in other forums. Like these.

I'm not tring to give you a hard time but it would be nice if you could see it from our side of the fence sometimes.

Those threads, I don't have a problem with. It's the threads that are dead obvious which bother me...and it's not that it bothers me all that much....it's just that I'm trying to get people to read my dang notices so it doesn't happen so often.
I don't have problems with the questionable ones because I understand the poster figures its ok..."close enough"...is good enough for me...but when they ask what exhaust for their truck, or what lift kit, or what heads for their motor...that stuff....is the stuff i move because it's cut and dry and doesn't belong here.
I've been a moderator here for awhile now, I moderate other forums on this site as well. I understand that sometimes you don't get the answer you need in another forum right away...but...it doesn't matter...it still belongs in that respective forum. Out of my 10,000+ posts, I have NEVER not gotten an answer from something I needed help with. Most of the time an answer is not given, it is due to improper wording of the question by the original poster (sometimes lack of information..etc etc). I know that a person wouldn't like the response of "it doesn't matter" but we do have a very very large site (30th in the world...) with a lot of posts per day...we need to keep this site organized for efficiency. Also...if a transmission post is made in the 87-96 forum...the tranny guys may not see it as the tranny guys who know what their talking about hang out in the tranny forum. Same goes with the other forums...I understand fully what the posters position is...I've been here for a long time...if you had a question about the axle in your truck than it belonged in the axle forum. The axles were not mixed in that year...the older style F-150 ended in 96. The older style F-250 and F-350 ended in 97. The axles were different after those years....but the year does not matter it has no effect on the actual axle itself....see? I am assuming you were asking a repair question of the axle...
I understand that you're not trying to make this difficult...and I appriciate the effort you've made to come to me wiht the post you made...I do understand where you're coming from though...I hope my post here clears things up...if not...please reply
As for the axle my question was about axle seals. All the ones I bought for it was to small even the ones for a dana 50. Finally went to the dealer and figured out that they changed things in sept of 96 and my truck was made after that. Also I believe the f-250 and 350 of 97 are staight axle. That is why I thought I wouldn't get the answer I needed in the axle forum.
The F-250 of our generation always had a TTB front axle, the F-350 had a solid d60 front axle from mid 85ish to the end of production of the model year in 97. We're gettin off topic, but again if its questionable like that...then I have no issues with the user, and I'll decide whether it stays or goes...I don't expect the user to know every time. Part of moderating is moving posts, I'm simply trying to figure out ways to reduce the overly obvious ones...
Or I guess you could kinda "flip" the entire board upside-down and have the forums for the drivetrain-specific stuff first, so that someone with a tranny question would post there before seeking out the model-specific forums.
Just my 2¢...
Pat
most new people to the forum if they have a 90 F and the tranny took a sh** on them, and there scrolling down the forum and see the 1987 - 1996 F-Series Trucks
then more than likely there gonna post there, but thats my 2 cents worth, I'm happy with everything the way it is, the knowledge on this forum is amazing and i appreciate every bit of it
