My wife and I just saw National Treasure. I think the screenwriter must have just finished reading 'The DaVinci Code' becuase it was the same kind of mystery/search/action adventure. But I'd give it two thumbs up. Very entertaining. The fact that I'm from the Philly area and a lot of the story was based in Philly was cool too. Go see it and get the large popcorn!
I agree. The week before I saw National Treasure, I read The Davinci Code. The similarities were almost illegal. I guess they made just enough changes to get away with it.
What get's me going. We'll go see another half-baked movie that just supports another year of these superstarts living their disgustingly lucrative lifestyles in Europe etc.....
I guess I'm just jealous.....To be hanging out in an Italian Villa with Catherine Zeta Jones........hmmmmmmmmm!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah, the plot was a little Hokey. Why involve Tess (Julia Roberts) in the sceme and expose her to the authorities if they didn't have to? I thought it was too convenient that so and so happened to meet so and so's relative who was a master theif, who trained the other master thief who was competing with so and so. If you've seen the movie you know what I'm talking about. I didn't want to give too much away to those who have not seen the movie.
...and neither one of them compares with the ORIGINAL Ocean's 11. Boy, to have been a charter member of "The Rat Pack" in the late 50s- early 60s! Of course, I would have been Joey Bishop (or Ceasar Romero)...
I agree with 1956MarkII. The original Oceans 11 made the remake look sick. Actually I was surprised to see Oceans 12, from everything I read Oceans 11 was a drag at the box office - especially when you consider the cost of the "star power" that went into it. I can't watch George Clooney in anything without having the ^%*%#@ Facts of Life song go off in my head.
I don't think Oceans 11 was a drag at the box office. 85 million to make and it grossed 450 million worldwide. It's number 49 on the all time list for highest grossing movies.
