Howdy all,
I have a 67 F250 Camper special and I am looking for Original or Original looking hubs for it. From what I can gather they are more like lug and axle covers with painted black slots. But I can't seem to find EXACTLY what they look like and EXACTLY which ones to order when I find some that look similar. Please help!
Thanks a bunch!
Scott
Yeah, I have seen that pic but the caps I am looking for are not there. If you go to http://www.67fordtruck.com/Scrapbook.html and look at truck number RN0095 you'll see the caps I am talking about.
Thanks!
Scott
My '67 has the type 3 caps from the factory. I don't know what it is about type 3's, but I can't even find crappy ones that I can repaint to replace my rusty ones.
LOL, there's 2 different types of Type 3's. Chromed steel ones and galvanized or zinc coated ones. My '67 came stock with chromed steel. I lost one awhile back and tried to find a replacement. All I could find was galvanized steel ones. I think mine was chromed steel because my truck came with the Custom Cab trim, aka chrome everywhere.
Those are the usual ones for a stainless trimmed truck. Those are dogdish type caps, but they are a good bit deeper than the 1/2 ton versions, so they will fit over the hubs. I'd like to find a set for my 68...I think the trim color is black. MK
I've seen them in junk yards. I have the same set on my 72. I had three of them that were painted silver. I found a good one on an old Ford van in a junkyard but it was chrome. You can't really tell they're different without getting a close look. These caps weren't unique to trucks.
For those of you out there that know these type of things... can you tell me what they call these hub caps (Ebay item #4510722348)? Are they Type 4 (see pic above in this thread)? I would like to order new ones, but don't know where or even what to ask for. All help would be appreciated.
Cheers,
Scott
MrMando, they are type 4 in polished stainless steel vs painted metal. They were an option over painted metal, hard to find, harder to get in good condition. EBay item 4510722348 are stainless, i won that bid at $43. I just purchased another set of four stainless, one has a few small dings, was told over the phone. I will bump out, sand and polish them to like new again.
They were purchased thru www.recks-relics.com. Dennis will answer your questions in short time. His business is 1932-80's Ford. Carl..=o&o>...
