Spudco,
I am afraid I am going to have to pass on the caps. They are the style I am looking for but I believe the rear caps won't fit because of the axle that sticks out. Thanks for the offer!
Cheers,
Scott
Spudco, thanks, and i'll square up with you after the holidays. I made spacers to go behind the wheels so the caps can fit now. Check photos below.

Spudco,
Lets hook up after the holidays. I will be taking off to MI in the morning and won't have time to do much until I get back on Sunday. I am very interested in the caps if they fit. So Lets talk after the New Year.
Thanks again,
Scott
MrMando, in my garage (storage pit) i have a set of four that came off a 79 1 ton in 79. I located one and will post photo tomorrow ( a "got to go" wife holiday thing today). They are 3 7/8" deep full dome, the dog bowl stainless caps are 3 1/2" deep. I had to machine a 1/4" spacer ring to get stainless caps to fit the rear. This also helped clear the 12:00 x 16.5 from rubbing the inner wheel well. They will be available when all found cheap. Carl...=o&o>.....
Merry Christmas
I'm having trouble following who has caps and who wants them. I'd be interested in a set of them stainless type 4's if anyone has a set not already laid claim to.
Spudco, this is beginning to sound like a soap opera as I, "Beemer Nut" came in after MrMando and was in second place as you stated. MrMando posted later, "afraid i'm going to have to pass on the caps" I, "Beemer Nut" then posted I'll square up with you later as you would be out of town for the holidays. Now later qman chimes in looking for caps. Did I loose ya on this soap? Hope we can strike a deal. Carl.....=o&o>........
Beemer Nut, you forgot to mention Spudco said: "That big ole axle shaft sticks out a good bit on my too. If you'd like, I can measure my old wheels after the New Year. If not, no worries." So that added a new twist. I am still interested in the caps, if they fit. Since the snow is still around and seeing that I just spent an hour digging out of snowblade ice residue, I plan on waiting a bit before double checking the fit of the caps. As so are the Days of Our Trucks. ;-)
Hey, I didn't "chime in". I'm just trying to slime in and ****** things out from under your noses. Just kiddin. I couldn't tell who was still in and who was out and I kinda like them type 4 caps so I thought I'd make a reach for em if you boys were out. I guess I'm in 3rd place then?
The 79 caps that I have in storage have a large dome 3 7/8" to 4" high by 12 1/4" diameter. They mount over the three bumps on the rims. The rims they came off were 6 3/4" and 9 3/4" x 16.5 (1 ton). The type 4 caps hit the rear hubs on my 68 CS so I machined a 1/4" aluminum spacer ring. The wheel studs are now flush with the lug nuts and the inside sidewalls clear the bed. Below is a Scan of one of the set of four caps for sale. Carl.....=o&o>......
