95,000 too many on a V10?

Looking at a used 99 F250 Crew Cab V10...in excellent shape. Has everything I've been looking for...Lariat package, gorgeous leather seats, crew cab, ,shortbed, 4:10 rear, auto, 4x4, hitch receiver. Seems to drive out great (but I've never driven a V10 before, so don't have much to compare it with). I guess my question is...Is 95,000 miles too many for V10? They are asking $16,500, but I think I can get it for $15,500. Too much? What do you guys think. Thanks.

I would think around 10 to 11 would be a better price.

I have about that on mine and haven't even replaced the serpentine belt, yet.

Can you get the maintenance records? If it has a good maint record and is in good shape, maybe 12 at the most.

How much has the owner/seller told you about it? If it's on the lot, can you get in touch with the previous owner?

Ron,

I think I need to come to Texas!! If I could find a truck like this for $11 or $12 grand, I'd jump on it. I have been looking all over for a 99 F250 Super Duty Crew Cab XLT Lariat 4x4 with a V10, and haven't found anything under $15K. Even the 99 2WD Supercabs are going for $14K around here (Iowa) Cheapest I've found is a 99SuperCab with 88K on the clock and only the XL trim--at $12,000...but it's only 2WD. Can't seem to find any in my neck of the woods by private sellers with the V10. Plenty of 5.4L models, but I want the V10. Maybe a trip to Texas would be worth it!

You'd croak then If I told you that I bought mine in early 2001 for $18,500.00

'99 F350 V10, excab, XLT, 4WD loaded, 5 speed manual, 4.30 gears with less than 32K miles.

V10's were not a hot item around here back then - now they're everywhere.

I can't say, but I wouldn't give that much for a '99 model - I wouldn't give that much for mine, and I know who does the maint on it.

Maybe you need to put a feeler out in the states around you.

...or you might have to come to Texas.

I bought my 99 250 V10 XLT quadcab last year with 74k miles on it for 9 grand. It had a coil wire going out in it an owner was thinking it was about to give up the ghost. I did myself a favor an paid 9 grand happily and another 100 to fix the coil wire. And to be honest i coudnt be happier. BTW im on Oklahoma. Most of the V10's here are (forgive my saying this) DODGE. Which i beat day in an day out empty or loaded.

My truck is a 99 with 126,000 miles, Crew, SB, 4x2, XLT, V10, A/T. It books out at $11,230 private party. ($8875 trade in) You can bet your butt I'm going to ask close to that when it's time to sell.

I've post this before, but go to NADA an book out the vehical for trade-in value. this is what the banks go by for loan values (sister is a loan officer). If you can buy the vehical for around that price it's generally a decent deal. the plus is by using that value as a guide if you decide to sell it you will be able to find a seller easier since they can finance the entire vehical. You'll have to add the extras in you're self because the bank will not take them into its price consideration if you are planning on financing the truck. I haven't checked but it seems a little high -Had a friend sell his 99' PSD that was well cared for (dang near babied) for $17,500 - it was a Crew Cab 4x4 XLT with captins chairs and nicely deck out with 78,000 miles on it. He didn't give it away but it took a few weeks to sell.

Thanks for the advice on NADA. I went there, and this is how it came up. So, does it still appear that $15500 would be a bad deal on this truck. The trade-in value on it is $16,500. Did I figure something wrong...I added in all the options the truck has. Man...I just don't see how I could get this truck for $11 or 12K. Any thoughts?

NADA is the book banks use to loan money on, but dealerships always use Kelly Blue Book, which is normally lower. The KBB has adders and subtracters per region of the country. Some areas in the counrty the vehicles may be worth more, or less in. Like Ford trucks in downtown NYC and in Brownsville Texas, so they bring more in Texas, for example. In the business it's known as over and under book, good luck, Ken (remember, a 'good deal' is the one you're happy with)

I bought my 99 F-250 CC 4X4 V-10 Lariat back in April for $5200. The truck had 162,000 on it, but it came with a complete motor (injectors, pumps, altenator, starter, etc) and transmission combo with 32 miles on 'em to sit in my garage until something happens! Right now the trucks got 181,000 and haven't had to use any of my parts yet.

Howdy Guys. Its been a while but this topic always strikes a little intrest in me. I got a 2002 F-250 CC 4x4 V-10 last year about this time and paid 23,000 smackaroos. I live in SD. Iowa is not far from the Dakotas so the prices are about the same hear. But at the time that was still under the nada value. I would have to agree totaly with the guy who said check the nada website!!!! Too many people like to make things sound better than they are.?. Except in Texas they have cheap trucks! Simple supply and demand I suppose. Any way sounds like a nice truck and if it what you want go for it the V-10 is a great engine but their were some big improvements from 99 to 2000 so if you have a chance to go newer do it. I drove a 99 and then the 2002 I got and you can feel the dif.
Anyway thanks for all you guys being hear when I needed some input and thanks FTE!

Don't make me have to come up there......

Really, it was the V10 scare back then. This guy did not know what he had.

I feel sorry for him.
