I had my truck broken into and the factory keypad code stolen from the glove-box with my registration. Whoever broke into it now has unfettered access to my truck since they know the master code and my address. It's an '02 Explorer. Is there any way to reprogram the module with a new FACTORY code? The two options I have been given by the local ford dealer are: a) buy a new car, or b) buy a new module (which is too expensive for them to accurately provide a quote). Obviously, I'm not too happy with either option. If the factory code can't be reprogrammed, is there a way to delete it or disable the keypad on the door so I can regain the security of my vehicle?
Additionally, I was apparently mis-informed by the Dealer, and the convenient pocket in the manual case is the WORST place to store the keyless entry code for the simple reason I am now experiencing. But hey, at least Ford quick putting the sticker on the door/trunk for all the world to see.....
Thanks in advance for any help that can be offered.
I'd go to junk yard, get the same model as yours and replace the module. Shouldn't be more than $25.00 and it will be plug and play -- you will need to reprogram your remotes as well.
