I pulled engine code18...need translation
The 89 I have...has the 4 connectors you speak of...my 95 has a slightly different harness, its 1 connector but the same idea.
So the resistor is before the engine harness connector....sounds good I'm gonna check into it when I get a chance.
I gotta figure out whats wrong with this damn truck, been over 2 years trying to figure it out.
The only real thing I have is code 85 but that is because my CANP solenoid is disconnected right now. That shouldn't be interfereing here (I get it on KOEO).
I've got a mustang a9l computer on it right now and I've driven it about 10-15 cycles and I havn't gotten any CM codes (hoping for CM code 18). I used to have code 18 on KOER but that went away when I took the SPOUT connector off and taped the wires together (some kind of bad connection in the SPOUT connector).
I cut my 89's wiring harness open and looked at how it's wired and saw the 22k ohm resistor section and how it's all put together.
I'm not really sure what to do now since I don't have a code telling me any direction to go in. Any suggestions?
I put the voltmeter to my old 89's wiring harness and got 22.1k ohms of resistance between the negative coil wire and the plug on the fender (end of engine harness).
I did the same thing on my 95's harness and I get virtually nothing for ohms. I don't think the 22k ohm resistor is in the engine harness on my 95. So I reconnected the harness, and checked the resistance between pin 4 and the coil negative - and get like 12k ohms.
I don't know where the 22k ohm resistor is on my 95 - apparently it's gotta be near the power distribution box somewhere.
Why would the ohm reading be less? Does that mean the resistor is in need of replacement or a bad spot in the wire....?
Hope this helps.
The T/Y lead is shown in 95 Wiring in EVTM. EDIT
