I know this has been discussed before but I am going to ask it again anyways I have a 2000 F250 PSD with a 6-speed manual. I installed a air filter and just got a SCMT today. I tow a 24ft trailer often and wondered if removing my stock muffler for now would help my egt's in the mountains. I plan to install a full exhaust after Christmas and it wont cost anything to put a piece of pipe in place of my stock muffler for now.... What do you think? Also, will it be alot louder or barely noticable? Its a long drive to Kentucky to have a loud drone......... Thanks for your help
A very easy way for you to make your decision is to unbolt the downpipe from the exhaust pipe right at the transmission cross beam. It's a very simple affair, two bolts and a taper fit. Tie the exhaust pipe out of the way a little and go test drive. You'll be surprised at how little noise it makes. The turbo does a lot of muffling on it's own.
When I installed my 4" exhaust on a 00", I used a sawzaw and cut out the muffler back first and then fired it up. It was not that much louder than my buddies with a 4" turbo back so I just installed my new 4" without a muffler or over the axle section and just used the tailpipe section to 90 out in front of the back tire. It is awesome. You can really here the turbo and not much louder. I am installing the Wicked Wheel this weekend to increase the sound even more and try to get rid of surge/stall.

You'll be glad you did, it completly cleared up the compressor stall on mine.
When I disconnected mine under the cab it was loud as Sh**t. I went ahead and did the muff delete anyway. The sound was much quiter when the exhaust went all the way to the rear of the truck.
Just do it!!!
i dont have a truck with a muffler.....it made a differnce in my wifes f350, the only time it was loud was when the ebpv came on but now that the 5" is on there you dont even notice it
