Hi bought a 1990 Ford Bronco II in 1999 it has been great. I put cheap gas one day and the fuel pump stopped working so i changed the fuel pump. Months later im at the gas station pumping gas when i start my car the gas gauge isnt marking i have a very minor transmission leak i add stop leak to it and it fixes it temporararly i keep on the fluids checked monthly. I had a radiator leak i put radiator stop leak it has never leaked radiator fluid again. I had a power steering leak i changed the power steering pump and it hasent leaked since. Now my car is marking the battery i stayed without battery in the middle of the road i had to walk to walmart and buy a new battery to make it home but it still marks low battery and to make matters worse the fuel gauge doesnt mark. It has always marked check engine. I would like to fix all these problems. Please show me how to do it. Thnanks
Is the gas gauge on full, empty or somewhere in between? Did you put a new float in when you replaced the pump?
Sounds like you have a drain on the battery, put an amp meter in the circuit at the battery, check for a drain, if you do pull the fuses one at a time to isolate the circuit.
See the tech info thread, pulling eec-iv codes for the check engine light.
check the alt? start the vehicle and while it's running pull the positive cable off the battery.. if it stops running the alt is bad. All the leaks are just a matter of replacing gaskets or seals and if you are mechanically inclined then you can do them yourself relatively cheap. Gas gauge is either a wire came off somewhere or the float in the gas tank.
Sounds a lot like alternator to me, and I know it sounds simple, but check the belt going to the alternator, hard to notice something when it's not there. Also check wiring to the battery and from the battery for corrosion.
