Those are the 406 heads. Ford Performance listed them as having std intake valves with larger LR 427 exhaust valves. The Ford interchange book by George Reid listed them as having the same int & exh. valves as the other std FE heads. Only way to tell who's right is to measure the valves yourself if the originals are present. I had a set back in the 80's but traded them off to a dealer for pistons for a 427. If I recall correctly the ones I had did have the larger exh valves, but it's been 20 years so I may be incorrect.

I have a set of C2SE-C heads. They are indeed 406 lowriser heads and mine have the original smaller intake and exaust valves not the larger 427 valves. The chambers are 67cc's.
Ok, I have a set of head's off a 1968 Murk. 390 4v engine . my head #'s are as follows C8AE-H, other #'s are, DIF & 7L7 on head's what cc are thay & what size valves are they are thay good head's or should I use alm . head's on my rebuild it came stock w 10.5 to comp. Any help needed. Thank's , Don
Annihilator, is that the 390 block one with the tripower?? Everythink else looks 406 on it and pretty nice as well. At least he is honest to not try to pass it off as something it's not.
Yomow, the C8 heads you have are 360,390,428 heads with 67-70 cc chambers. The valves are listed at 2.02 and 1.55 but measure them as some guys upgrade to the larger CJ size. The date code 7L7 and is Nov 7th 1967 so early 68 head they are. I say early 68 as production started three months or so earlier for the following year. That and they have the C8 casting and C7 would be a late 67. G.
They'll probably be alright if you port 'em and polish the chambers. If you dont... I can hear the canines (read K9's) barking...
If you're talking about them pinging, then no. My 68 Merc has a set, same 10.25 to 1 comp, Crane 272 degree Energizer cam. Runs all day long on 89 with nary a ping and 12 degrees initial timing. All I've done to the C8's was to de-burr the heads, removing any sharp edges. No port or polish work done.
