looking for a reliable manual
I am in need of a very good manual for a 1984 Ford Ranger. I've had my truck over a year now and am getting into doing most of the repairs myself so I want one that has good pics and description. I know that Chiltons is pretty popular but are there any specific ones that you would recommend?

I have been doing my ownmaintenace on my cars and bikes for years and if you dont want to go to the expense of buying factory manuals I have found the Chiltons and Haynes manuals to be good. I bought two Rangers this year, a 96 and a 98, and picked up the Haynes manual that covers these years. The 98 has only 10K miles on it so other than change oil it needed no maintenance. The 96 had 80K miles so I replaced timing belt, serpentine belt, etc. and the Haynes book gave me very good help.
I looked on the haynes website http://www.haynes.com and found they do list a manual that covers your Ranger :-
36070 - Ranger/Bronco II gasoline models '83 thru '92

You can order it from them or another online seller like www.amazon.com or check at your local auto parts store. Got mine from Autozone.

looking for a reliable manual
Im looking for "real reliable" manuals also for my 1998 Ranger XLT also. I came across this site the prices seem high but you get what you pay for as a general rule of thumb. Don't know any more about them the company that sells them but it is worth a look.

I use a Haynes for my Dodge Dakota and it's been a great help. But danged if Haynes doesn' t have one for my 2000 Ranger!!!
I haven't found a Chilton's or anyting in the online store. What's the deal? Are there any service manuals for the 2000 Ranger?

Where else can a person get an :

For $50.00 ?
I do doubt though that we have a new Ranger manual on CDRom.

TimRob, Haynes has a manual for Ford Ranger Pick-ups 1993 - 2000, there #, 36071. I'll tell you now it is only good for years '93 - '97. Anything after that is vague. I have an 01 Ranger and the manual leaves a lot to be desired. Just my .02 cents.
