I think that is it. It is setting at Ford delearship right now because the one we bought it at couldn't figure out what is wrong with it nor did they have all the parts to fix it. Anyway it should all be covered on warranty for a mere $50 out of our pocket expences (we will see how that goes ). My banker is telling us to try and get them to take it back if they won't cover it and to settle it in court. I'll keep yall posted will find out later today!!!
It really sounds like a computer went South, but that is a lot of stuff for one computer to control. Maybe one went and took another one with it. Ford should be able to find out pretty quick. Had a neighbor once who went through something like that and he eventually found out his car had been through a flood. Hope that isn't the case for you, but if it turns into a long term problem, I'd sure check it out.
Just got word back from the dealership (yes it was a new car delearship) and it was a huge short behind the fuse box and all of it is covered under warranty except for #3 and #8 (allthough it should be) so I guess we diddn't come out of it too bad hopefully this vehicle dosen't give us alot of problems. I am going to pick it up tomorrow kind of anxious to see if they got the rough idle fixed though. I forgot about one little detail they diddn't want to give us a loaner vehicle and when they finally gave in thay gave us an 02 Honda Accord and when we got in it the fuel light was on and the tank was bone dry so I might have to drive around Wichita for a while to run it out of gas befor I take it back.
I knew there was a reason I only bought vehicles with close to 100,000 miles on them. By that time the former owners have the bugs worked out and if something breaks and I have to pay to fix it I'm not surprised. My low mileage vehicle is the 64 T-bird with 83,000. Of course it needs rear wheel bearings from sitting too much over the years and a ring job on the engine. Jeremy, good luck on getting it fixed and I hope you have no more problems. Also, let me know when it gets close to 100K and you are thinking of selling.
Here are the new revalations with the Explorer. First of all we still haven't gotten it back yet it is still in the service shop they cant figure out the ABS code that it is throwing out. Second the dealership that we bought it from was SOLD!!! But the dealership that we bought it from (that will remain nameless because I wasn't proud to buy from them in the first place) belongs to a big chain of dealerships so that saved us there. Third I when I called the service shop I asked them if everything on the list but the ABS code was fixed they said no and that when we come to pick it up they would have us point it out and that it would go BACK into the shop. Fourth since I wasn't to excited about the Explorer being in the shop for the next however long it takes I tracked down the manager and proposed this to him: I told him that I had been talking to our banker that brought up this idea, he told us to ask to deal on anothe vehicle or see if they would take it back. The manager wasn't impressed and said he would have to get "the story on the situation and call me back. So here I sit waiting BIG SUPRISE!!!!
Jeremy, it really sucks to have a new vehicle and then it is in the shop while they try to figure out how to fix it. It should have be right to start with. Good luck on getting it fixed or the dealer making things right.
