i have a 98 explorer sport 4.0 SOHC. Wanted to know if anybody knew what it should idle at when it is in park and when it is in gear? Thanks for any info.
I Looked On My Lunch Break. Did Not Say Anything About What The Idle Should Be. Is There Any Other Place I Can Look Or Can Any Tell Me What It Should Be? Thanks For The Help.
Strange that it's not on the emissions sticker? My guess is around 800 RPM's. If you have a Haynes manual it should tell you in chapter one. How fast is it idling?
My guess is that warm idle should be around 800.
I'd check and make sure the throttle body is clean & throttle plate is closing all the way & check for lean codes.
The trottle body is good. I do have the CEL on. Auto zone said it was the #1 O2 sensor. Whould that cause it to idle a little high? Thanks for the info.
I justed replaced my intake o-rings this weekend it fixed the rough idle and hard start on cold mornings. The CEL was on before I did that so my guess it was running lean. Auto Zone did not give me a code they just said it was bad. As soon as the holidays are over I will get around to replacing the O2 sensor when i get time. Thanks for the help and info 87 XLT. As soon as i replace it I will let you know.
