04 Expy DVD headsets

Does anyone know the aftermarket equal of the wireless headsets for the factory dvd player? And how much are they?

I believe that irfrared (IR) headsets are mostly "generic" and work within a very narrow band dictated by the FCC; meaning if you can match the transmission frequency of the Ford IR headsets to aftermarket headsets, they will work. The frequency should be stated in the vehicle's owner's manual, the owner's card that should have come with the DVD/VCP and/or perhaps on the headphones themselves.

Also, check out "ebay" and search for "ford wireless"; that set up for auction that ends in 7-hrs may apply to you. If your "crazed demons" run true to form, they'll break/lose the new set you buy. So, if your '04 is like my '02 with the overhead LCD screen, there's a removable piece of plastic in the front of the overhead console in which you can plug in two headphone "mini" jacks. Cheap wired headphones, extension cables and "Y"-adapters should do what you want. In my vehicle, adults get the wireless headphones, the kids get the $6.00 wired headphones.

I don't think u understand the seriousness of the situation...First..My little clones of (CHUCKIE) 4 and 6 would either strangle each other with those cords....or conspire together to strangle their 14 year old brother...That's what I'm talking about...(I'ts in the dad's genes) So after much thought the most logical thing to me is to get them aftermarket.Ford's buying them from someone. No adults even get close to the dvd player in my truck...I had three sets...Now i have 1 1/2 trying to get to 4...

Question Wired vs Wireless DVD 03/EB/5.4

So on the 03,EB,Expy, some of the DVD's came with the wireless option and some didn't? I don't remember seeing that when I bought mine. I did get a pair of "wired headsets" that have seen their better days. I don't remember if they say anything on them.
Anybody know the answer to the wired vs. wireless DVD on the 03/EB/5.4 ?

do you know if that remote works with the DVD without the infrared headphones?

What does it transmit to, the radio? I have the factory Navigation, but I see an infrared port on it, I assume the remote transmits to there. Does anybody know?

Before I purchase the remote I want to know... Also, could you tell me the FORD part # on the back of the remote?

Thank you,

John
