Hi all I am a new user here and I have a couple questions. First has anyone had the vibration dampener added to the frame rail to stop the bed vibration? Mine shakes so bad that it has made the rear window squeak continuously now. Any suggestions for this problem is greatly appritiated. Just for the record the truck has been in the shop 6 times for the wheel shimmy which with balancing and a new set of General they fixed that problem. But this is the second time for the rear window squeak. The truck is a 2004 4x4 XLT CrewCab. I love the truck but all the problems are really driving me to a trade in.

As I speek, my truck is at the dealer getting that window squeak taken care of for the second time now. The frist time they said they re-sealed the window which obviously didn't work so now I brought it back to them and now they are replacing the entire window!! I hope this finally fixes the squeak! Now for the Bed Vibrations. I hate to say it, but it's the way the new f150's are! The bed is about 2 inches bigger then the last f150 which makes the sheet metal more vonerable to shake a little bit. I'm not a big fan of that myself, but I love this truck to much to let just one thing get me down!! Not everything will be perfact with anything you buy! Theres good and theres bad with just about anything in this world! Hey, the f150's are by far most the nicest truck on the road these days!!!!! Come on, new for 2004 was obviously the new body style, your always are going to have something minor happen to a new body style change, just like the back window squeak and the shimmy you are talking about. The dealers so far that I have been reading about are doing everything they can to fix the problems that some of us have. I'm very proud of Ford for what they have built and they really are helping us out!! I love my truck! It's a 2004 XLT Supercrew 4.6 with all the options!!! VERY PROUD F150 OWNER HERE!! Goodluck to you!!
Had my rear window replaced for the "squeak" Everything good now... Bed still shakes, I have read that this is from the stiff frame, and the shocks being mounted outside the axle. I used to notice the bed, but after a while, does not bother me anymore. Just something different.
Welcome to FTE Tjhauler. The rear window squeak appears to be a problem by itself. Ford has issued a TSB for this. Do you know if the dealer addressed a TSB for the problem, or just tried to fix it on their own (some of you might laugh at that question, but I know better than to trust them...)? This truck is much stiffer than previous generations, so obviously it is going to react to road forces differently. The bed shake is from the inherent frame and mounting design, so there really is nothing we can do about it.
I dont see the bed shaking on my truck. I cant really see how it could shake; its bolted directly to the frame. If you are seeing the shake in the side mirrors.... is it possible that the mirrors are just shaking?
Thanks all for the replys. So you are telling me that the squeak is fixed by a different window seal. I hope this is true and I can get the squeak fixed because I to love everything else about this truck that I do not want to have to get rid of it. Yes the bed is shaking and not the mirrors. I have done the infamous closing the tailgate test and it is shaking in the frame and the bed. I also was at the Ford dealer the other night looking at superdutys and I crawled under about six new 150's on the lot and had my wife close the tailgate and all the new ones do it also. I AM STILL WONDERING IF THE FRAME VIBRATION DAMPENER WILL HELP ANYTHING OR NOT. Again thanks for the welcome and the advice you have given me.
Be safe and keep it between the ditches unless your JEEP'N

I am inclined to say that it does not fix the problem, but it might lessen it. I think Ford needs to look at how they attached the bed to the frame. I think they used rubber mounts, when maybe polyurethane would be a better option (much stiffer, and less likely to 'flex' under load. Also, I plan on carrying a few hundred pounds of sand in my bed this winter (bagged), and I am hoping that I notice some of the bed deflection dissapear. If a few bags of sand fixes the problem, I can live with that.
This is how I fixed it, just adjust your rear view mirror just above where you can see the top of your tailgate. Like I said, after a while, you will forget all about it.
