fuel pump problems

fuel pump problems

my 87 ranger 2.3 has been giving me some fits lately. once in a while it runs, once in a while it doesn't. before it runs, you can hear the fuel pump. before it doesn't run, you can't here the fuel pump. but when i took the pump off it worked just fine. any ideas as to what could be in between that could give me fits?

Fuel pup relays are only 7 or 8 bucks. Might want to change it & see what happens. If that doesnt do the trick you will need a wiring diagram & VOM to test the fuel pump circuit.

You may want to look at all the POST in this section under the title FUEL. I have been having all kinds of problems with my 87XLT 4X4.
