Okay. I do not think this engine is original to my 66 f100 but wondering what year and displacement it was '65 in think and I was told 300ci. numbers are as follows:
That would be the original 240/300 casting. Cannot tell from the casting number whether its a 240 or 300, but "C" stands for 60's, "5" for 65, "A" for auto (remember, 240 was used in cars too, but the block was the same in 240 and 300).
The casting numbers did not change much for years. Sometime in the 70's, blocks changed to D5TE I think. Perhaps when the 240 was phased out in favor of just the 300 and since they were putting it only in trucks, they changed the casting #. But I am not certain on this.
The bottom block in 240/300 is virtually unchanged till EFI arrived. Later EFI blocks did not have the fuel pump location milled out. Though the cam shaft in EFI engines still has the fuel pump lobe presnet. Heads varied some, though will interchange for the most part, as the block is identical.
There are numerous posts about how to tell a 240 from a 300. Suggest you do a search. Or look at my recent postings, as I answered this question in detail less than 5 days ago. Too tired to retype all of it.
