'67 Pontiac Le Mans with a 326ci and a console shift automatic. It was a red hardtop with white vinyl. Way too much car for a dumb 16 year old to be driving. I wish I still had it now, even if it was a Pontiac. My dad talked me into getting rid of it when California started going nuts over smog testing.

My first truck was a '78 F-150 with a 460ci and C-6 tranny.

A 1962 pontiac lemans tempest convertable, had 4 4clinder with a 4bbl carb . This car had a corvair trans axle in it also. To know now the only made 5000 of them.

The car was given to me and it cost me 106 dollars to put a new top it was cherry white with a white interior.
Started driving it around delivering new papers at 5am, This was 1973

1956 Ford Niagara 2dr sedan , 292 cu in. 3 in the tree that I promptly changed to a Foxcraft Floor Shift . At 17 the gals in high school loved it and it came with a pre-educated back seat from the former owner .

1974 Ford F100 Explorer "custom" 2wd longbed single cab. It was bright orange with the white stripes along the bottom. Duel tanks, 360 cu in. I did my own lift kit for it using junk yard parts, ran 2 straight pipes, blew the first 360, then a 390, finally it got an electrical problem that not even my auto shop teacher knew what it was. I miss that truck. When I run into people from high school, they still ask if I have it.

First vehicle *driven* was a 1977 Ford LTD Landau. 2 doors. 351W in it. Thing was a land barge!

First vehicle *owned* was a 1993 Ford Ranger XLT R/C. 2.3L, Electric Red clearcoat metallic. Aluminum wheels. 7' bed. Sliding rear window. 5 Speed.

Traded it in on my now ex-wife's 1992 Ford Exploder. Biggest mistake I ever made.

'49 Buick Roadmaster, straight eight with Dynaflow. A killer. Would mow down anything got in it's way. It was a freebee from the gramma. What a deal.

You are so lucky. I am looking for an old muscle car with a stick, so I dont have to keep driving this '85 300D. Its cheap and all, but amazingly slow. Ive taken it to over 110, but it sounds like it was going to blow up and I couldnt see anyone behind me due to the black smoke that was clouded up on the freeway. At least it runs better now.

My first car and I wished I still had it was a 1964 Ford Galaxie 500, 2 door hardtop. It had a 289 cu. in. V8, 2 bbl carb, 3 speed cruise-o-matic trans. It was white with red cloth interior. After hours of sanding and preparation, it became Candy Apple red. The smoothies were painted black and I hand painted the black around the FORD letters on the center hubcaps. I remember getting a good deal on BF Goodrich Performa GT white letter tires, G70's through a buddy of my Dad's. A Cal Custom steering wheel, Moon tach, Audiovox 8-Track with killer speakers. I wish we had one of those picture scanners so I could share a picture or two with you. Oh yeah, almost forgot (I went and got the pictures), a Moon "barefoot" throttle pedal. I liked the huge trunk it had because it made it easy to sneak buddies into the Drive-In movies to watch Ginger movies.(we were barred from the Jungle Drive-In at Parkersburg, WV for getting caught sneaking in the back without our headlights on.)

My Dad bought a used '67 Impala, I think around '68. Blue exterior, black vinyl top 4 door with the 283, 2 bbl. At the supper table one night he ask me if I knew why it smoked when it was first started. (Dad was a diesel mechanic). After my stupid reply back he said, do you know what causes burnt valves, it's from you running the throttle to the floor. We rebuilt the heads and by then I had my own car so he got several good years out of it. He was a Chevy man all the way.

You know I don't think those Chevettes will ever go away, I still see one once in a while. I guess they were pretty decent cars if you didn't want anything sporty or fancy.

Mine was a 1978 MGB, like this one:

It was an electrical nightmare with the "made in hell" Lucas electrics. But it was a great car when it would start (it usually did.)

My parents paid $1,800 for it and I think I sold it for $1,500 a few years later. I put it out at the end of my driveway with a For Sale sign and it was sold in a few hours. Guess I should have asked for more!
