egr valve changed
Ok i got the egr off and put on the new one. pulled neg cable off batt for around 30 minutes after that started the truck ran great for ten minutes with no lite.so i went to bed. Next morning started up truck and back the old way? a 1996 ranger ext cab 4x4 4.0 efi engine check engine light on,real high idle and suck up gas real bad milage, I drive 50 miles to work first 30 on highway when i got to work and shut down truck 5 minutes later started truck up and low idle truck was shaking and i thought it was going to die. Gave it a little gas and started to run a little better but still shook? whats next i cleaned the idle sensor could that be bad.

Snasby: When you changed the EGR valve did you clean the port behind it that goes into your intake system? The ports are known to get carboned up and can restrict the air flow. The shaking and high idle smells of a vacuum leak.
El Conquistador is right, have your codes pulled and post them here. Hopefully together we can figure this out for you.
