Hi you all,I have a 99 Holiday Rambler Class A motorhome with aTriton V-10, 6.8L.My engine maint. light stays on, I wanted to use to use the computer diag.tool but unable to locate the plug in,I`ve checked under the dash but could not locate.I cant see any differance in my engine performance with the light on.thanks
If the code was set by something that's cleared up now - intermittent problem - you can reset it by disconnecting the battery for a while. I don't remember how long, but I think I did it for around 15 minutes and it worked.
If you want to know what the code is, or if it won't clear, I believe that many of the parts houses can pull it for you, although I've never gone this route myself.
If all else fails, the dealer will pull it for you for a fee.
It is loosely secured to the right side of the steering column; with a plastic cover over the end of the receptacle. It's easier to see by lifting the instrument panel and looking down along the steering column.
Thanks jcric, will try that.Stan you are correct about the black box,but I opened the box and there was no plug, only a card(looks like a flat green card like in the back of a radio)any ideas?thanks

Sounds like you have the wrong thingy.
There is a large black plastic shroud around the steering column where it enters the dash.
If you lift the dash pod, you will observe that the steering column is enclosed in a large black sheet metal enclosure. The OBDII connector is attached to the right side of that metal enclosure box on a swivel mount 4" down from the edge of the bottom edge of the shroud. The apparent purpose of the swivel mount is to make it easier to connect from either above or below the dash.
Looking from above, with the dash pod open, you will see about six wires entering a small black piece of black plastic about the same size as the OBDII connector on your scanner (1-1/4" sq); although there is a blue plastic collar where the wires enter the receptacle. The receptacle itself is normally facing downward; and the end is protected with a slip-on plastic cap, so you won't see the receptacle pins until the cap is removed.
Thanks Stan,I will get out tomorrow and pull the coller off, I knew it had to be there.Do you think these tools at auto zone for checking the computer will talk to my V-10`s computer
