The job I work at doesn't really care too much about appearance, so I usually just trim my beard. I may be getting a part-time job on the side that does care about appearance. I avoid shaving with my electric shaver (Remington) due to the fact that it itches like crazy afterwards. I've never used a manual razor and I'm wondering what the opinion is on it. I figured I would ask before going out and buying, to save a little cash. Any brands better than others?
Both, Apply preshave use electric razor. After that a quick drag of a cheap disposable and I'm done. Being a military man appearance counts and this method has worked for me for the last 12 years.
I've tried the expensive 2, 3, and 4 blade razors, but they've all been a waste for me. I get my best shave from a regular ol 2 blade disposable razor. I usualy get them blue Gillet ones.
I tried an electric one once but didnt like it. It didtn get close enough.
I use Gillette Mach 3.....works well.....The blades are expensive, but I got a good piece of advice from my grandfather a couple of years ago: When you are done shaving, wash the razor out real good and then soak the blades in a cup of baby oil. I can get about 15 good shaves out of each blade before I notice them getting dull
If you're going to shave with disposable razors, get ones that you can replace more often (inexpensive ones) so that you don't get bacteria buildup that can cause infected hair follicles.
you guys should have had to shave with old gillette blue safety razors. when i started shaving that's all there was. new, they were like a an old worn out disposable razor then it went downhill from there.
I've used a straight blade, hunting knife(in desperation, with a razor sharp edge mind you) various disposable and replaceable head type razors and a couple or three different electrics. Electrics are fine as long as you shave everyday, and apply after-shave, but it really depends on your skin. Sensitive skin tends to not like the electric much, and will break out. Electrics don't shave nearly as close as a blade, or disposable. I tend to not shave as often now, as I don't personally care if I look like grizzly adams, and work a night-shift where no one really has to see me anyways. My preference lies towards the disposables(higher end) or a middle of the road replaceable head unit. I change blades after every shave, sometimes use more than one for a shave, but the blade still rules for me.
