I have an 89 ranger with a 2.9 I think has a cracked block (looseing coolent) Anyway my cousin has a 93 explorer with a 4.0 that had been rolled. any body know if this swap will work or how much trouple it is? I know a trany for that explorer was the same as a ranger becuase we replacd it right before he turned it over.

 

It'll work, but 89 and 93 have slight differences in chassis and engine wiring.

You need the electronics for the engine. You have a cracked head(s) in the 2.9 if the coolant ends up in the oil.

 

there is no sign of water in the oil I'm just looseing it, can't really smelll or see it in the exaust either.

 

There's only four places for it to go, in the block, on the ground out the exhaust and into the auto tranny but I guess it doesn't matter if you putting the 4.0 in it.
