I've got a 84 4x4 Ranger with a crushed cab. The frame and motor are real good, so I would like to replace the cab. Does anyone have thoughts about the difficulty of such a project. I have mostly only done engine and mechanical work before, but I did help my father with a bare frame restoration of a 31 Model A.
I'm also looking for sources of information about the cab, what other years would fit, etc. Any help would be appreciated.
You can use any regular/extended cab (depending on your need) from 1982 through 1992. It's alot of work, just dismantling and removing alot of parts, time consuming but relatively simple. Definately better than trashing the whole truck.
It is a rather time consuming endeavor . As the one guy had said its alot of taking this off, disconnecting this and that. The proper equipment doesn't hurt either. I personally have seen it done once trading out 1-ton cabs. Patience and a cool head will pay off. Good luck
