i took my second one off and its considerably louder than before but you realy dont here it out of the cab because i havent put on a longer pipe and elbow. doesnt realy smell all that bad, not any worse than it did before i took it off.
I am thinking of taking off my secong cat on my 96 f150 302. The flattened pipe where I cut it has me wondering if a round piece of pipe will fit in it and seal it or is it too out of round. Also did any of you guys throw a code or have the service light come on after you removed the cat... Also did you notice any power difference or did it just get louder... Thanks for any input.....
well fair, i dont know whether it threw a code cause my light was on befor i cut it off. as for the more power bit, the intake and exhaust on a car is the most restrictive part of the engine, and the cat holds back alot of air movement so yea i does give you a bit more power.
I cut mine after the flattened pipe. Yea it was a tight squeeze with a hacksaw, but I found the perfect position and just went at it . No computer codes will come on. And it gets very loud.
What did you do with the air injection tube? Did you plug it or cut off or just leave it hanging there?? Looks like Im gonna wait till spring to do all this, it was -24 this morning and I done like to work on my truck in the cold. Thanks again, Im glad someone would be a test subject !
Thanks for the help green and chrono I really appreciate the replies with no sarcasm.. I am undecided but whatever I do I will need to hack off the second cat for sure. I just hope the pipe close to the cat is rounder than it looks so the replacement will be not so hard... Thanks alot much appreciated.....
