Ok noticed the first few weeks of driving my 03 F350 SD that when im maintaining a pretty constant speed, the truck seems to be going into too high of a gear, therefore when I want to speed up, it feels like a wimp, then it would downshift and take-off. Could be my driving style, switching to a new vehicle, but im not quite sure.
Secondly, which also could be common for SD's, is when I go over certain bumps, I can feel it on the bottom of my left foot. Feels kind of like a quick rubbing sound as the leafs compress.
I have a 03 F350 v10 auto and I have noticed that when I have the CC on @ say 45 Mph on sometimes when going up a hill it will downshift hard and run up to 2500 rpms but comes down right after that to say 1800. Not sure why seems like the computer gets confused thinking it needs more power then it does.
I have never had a problem with the speed bumps, what size tires are you running? you just might be getting a little tirre rub on the bumbs.
Not sure if this will help you just some observations I have had.
Thanks, I took the 99 F350 for a drive today to see if it were similar and it was, around 45mph it seems to not get enough juice or whatever.
as for the feeling under my left foot. The truck has original tires/wheels/height. When it stops raining im going to go outside and see what suspension components are located in that area.
It's the computer trying to get the best gas mileage possible. Mine will shift into OD at 35mph. That's like 1100 rpm. The engine doesn't make enough power there to climb any kind of hill. Try using the OD cancel button.
