i know theres tons of threads on this, but i have a different goal.
we do LOTS of heavy hauling with our F550 6.0 (dump truck)
i think i might have my dad interested in a tuner for the truck. what is the best tuner for heavy hauling (with trailers too) and still use both STOCK intake AND exhaust? i dont think he wants an exhaust system or anything, but an extra 80HP and 120 LB.FT sounds really nice to me for $400. i was looking at the superchips 1704 model. thanks for helping me in advance.
I would consider a muffler delete pipe or a repalcement muffler at least. That has been gone over many times also, you will probably cook your turbo eventually if you dont unrestrict your exhaust.

You wil not cook the turbo on thee 6.0, they are designed to run with the CAT
i dont want any reliability issues. i will not be hauling 15,000# everyday, maybe twice a week or so. its a dump truck, so some times it will be unloaded, driving to lowes for stuff, or something like that. i will have a trailer hooked up say 60% of the time, and about 40% of that time, it will be over 10,000#...
You are probably OK but I would install a pyrometer.
I don't see high temps with my SCMT on the tow safe setting and temps in the econo setting were OK too. This is towing a 10,000 lb or so trailer with a GCW of around 18000 lb for truck and trailer and climbing SoCal mountains, i.e., 8+% grades here and there.
My truck has the "restrictive" stock '03 exhaust system.
