I would go with the SC1704 version 5.03. I don't feel the Edge is safe enough for the trans.
On levels 4 and 5, it is not very safe. However, on a lower level (which will be neccessary when loaded) the shifting is solid as a rock. The only real issue with it is the 3 to 4 upshift problems on the highest settings.
i think its a toss up between the edge and 1704. ill give my pros and cons of both and see if you agree
now i dont know if the edge redesigns the tranny module to make firmer and better shifts?
1704 +'s: you can set back to factory settings if you have to take it to the dealer (which i most likely will)
negs- :you have to buy gauges and the pillar mount( personally think it looks cooler) to have the same features as the edge juice.
edge juice +'s: everything is inccluded in the package
negs-: price, and that you have a modification installed in your truck (cant hide the box under the hood and alsothe in-cab mount, )
and as vegas said, it doesnt do much for the tranny.
oh, one more thing- i was looking on motorhaven, building my cart to see a price, and i want to know that when i get the preturbo gauge, does the probe and ALL the other stuff needed (like the bushing they explained) is that included with the gauge?
We have said our peace here (I know I have). From here, I think you and your dad need to take a look at each option and let him make the final decision
FINAL QUESTION: i was looking around for boost gauges, and it only specifies the gauge itself. is the tap into the intercooler pipe(im assuming thats the place where you tap?) included, as well as the wire that goes from the gauge to the tap on the pipe?

i thank you sincerely PSD FX4...thanks. im guessing thats the same deal with the pyrometer too. there is an option for the gauge for like $75 and then the "kit" that includes the probe and the wiring for lole $125. is the second a ripoff considering that the guage has the probe too?

The Edge does not control the tranny. With my experience any setting above 3 is unsafe and 3 shifts bad sometimes. You will have to buy the Attitude WITH the Edge if you want gauges. My experience with the Attitude is it does not give accurate readings when compared to seperate gauges. You will spend $799 for this setup.
The SC1704 can read codes and erase codes. The SC1704 is much more advanced as far as which variables it is able to control or change. The cost of the Sc1704 is $399 - $40 coupon at Motorhaven. You can get a two gauge kit for $245.00 with everything needed. $614 and you have got a great setup.
I have used almost every tuner/module on the market. PM me if you have any specific questions.
any link to the two-gauge kit, ive been searching awhile with no progress. the $360 tuner and the $250 gauge kit sounds good, now all i have to do is to start sweet-talking...hahaha..

I have used the standard 1704, Predator, Quad 125, and Edge Juice...I see you have the SCT custom tuner, and the 110 Instigator...what are your thoughts on the Instigator shifting, and where did you get the SCT (and who wrote the tune?).
I have been looking at the SCT line of stuff from Innovative diesel; I have heard rumors they have *safe* stack tunes for some of the other boxes. Do you have any experience with this?
