I recently completed a frame off restore of my 65. That included sandblasting the tranny. It was not visibley leaking before. I did change the oil, but I am pretty sure I put the recomended ammount in. The check/fill plug seems to have oil pretty much right at the top, so I am not loosing much. But I am annoyed, as I am accustomed to ignoring my manual trannys and checking the oil only rarely. It seems to be leaking just enough to encase the whole area with a layer of greasy dirt.
It seems like the leak is coming from one of the three rear plugs in the cover. Anyone know much about t-18? They are the same mostly as t-98 and t-19. Could it be that the proper ammount of oil is NOT up to the fill hole. Maybe I am just overfilled and throwing the oil out?
I did also remove the rear tail housing that covers the speedo drive gear. But that seems not to be the source.
I don't know much except mine's been working fine for more than 178,000. I've had this site bookmarked just in case I needed to rebuild mine. http://okcnetworks.com/bronco/t18/t18.htm
