just a question; i need to replace the tranny oilin my 2000 f -150; it usually
takes the oil pan removal to replace the firlter and check for scrap in the pan.
since the oil now is clean i am thinking not to replace the filter nor remove the oil pan ,NOW here IS MY QUESTION
what if i disconect the oil lines at the transmition oil cooler run the engine pump all the tranny oil out till nothing comes out , then stop the engine and refill the tranny (this is a lot easier thant to drop the pan tec, etc.
We have a tech article here at the site about chainging the fluid in a 4R100. The 4R70W (door code 'U') uses Mercon V in 2000, if you have that tranny. I think the directions for both are similar. There are some pointers on how to do it, IIRC one of them is pumping the tranny fluid using the cooler line, but I'd recommend changing the filter anyhow.
