Hey Gang,
I just recently purchased a 99 Ranger XLT S/C 4x4 (my 3rd Ranger!) and can't seem to figure out how to get the rear cargo light to work, I managed to get the brake light to work (new bulb) but the 2 cargo lights on either side never come on. I've check both bulbs and tried every combination of interior light (switch mounted on the ceiling light itself) on/off and door opened/closed I can think of! Can anyone help me out, or have a copy of the wiring diagram? I've got a service manual on order.
I've just bought a '99 Ranger XLT Flareside, I have been scratching my head about the same thing. Having a childlike mentality, i played with everything and discovered by turning on the interior dome light the cargo light comes on. Bob
Superduty's come on when you open the door, but not the ranger's. The ranger's only work when you turn the dimmer up all the way like ken00 and ranger99 mentioned. This is still the case on my '02.
I pulled third brake light/cargo light bezel off of my '98 Ranger tonight, trying to figure out what exactly was going on in there. I found one bulb for the brake and one on each side for the cargo light. Then I couldn't figure out how to turn the darn things on! The owners manual was of no help. I knew I could find it on this great web site! Thanks for the help, it's like getting a new toy! Yes, I'm easily entertained...
