Cant decide on a tire... ?

Heres what happening on my truck.
Its been out off service for a long while now, and I am tired of this. Therefore, everything is going on at once. I havent decided on 4" (sky manufacturing shackle stuff) or 8" (Sky stuff and 4" leaves in fron and 8" in rear to loose the blocks). Head gaskets are currently under replacment (meaning everything external of the block must come off, both sides) and am under a few minor engine upgrades too, but thats irrelevant other than more down time.

Anyways, sorry to bore yall, what tires (dunno on the size either)?
Hawgs, I get to keep my 16.5s
One the the X--'s michies or the Goodyear AT2As or whatever from Stazworks (just which one for size), and I get 20's (goofy looking on 38ish-40ish tires).

Again, sorry to bother, but Im about to rip my hair out or chop my head off, or something...

RawPower,
If you do decide to go with the Hawgs, make sure you get one size bigger than you want. In Denman speak, 40's are only 38 inches tall, 44's are only 41-42 inches tall, and so on and so forth. An inch must have been a little shorter back in the late 70's when the molds were made for those tires.....

It's only a warning so if you do get Hawgs you'll be prepared for the innaccurate measurements.

I wont get swampers because my school is 30 minutes from my house. Myabe I dont plan on needing reverse...
Yeah, I knew Denman's measure wrong. I wish they had an actual 40" tire.
Pretty sure I want the Hawgs to save money. TYRES had a sale a month ago or so, 200 for the "40's" and 150 for the "38's" or something.
Hey Cleatus, Did you ever have a 4 or 6" lift on your truck?
If so, what was the largest tire you could fit with out rubbing the leaves?

I had a 3 inch lift for about a month.....6 inch lift for a little while longer. I had 35x14.5/16.5 Thornbirds on it for a LONG TIME (9 and 12 inches of lift, too). The 3 inch lift wasn't enough to clear that wide of a tire when turning, although a 35x12.5 would've worked great. 39x19.5/16.5 inch Boggers fit with 9 inches of lift, though. Wanna buy some 44 inch Hawgs????

Can I fit them with 10 or less inches? How much do you want for them? How much life/how many miles on them?
They are 16.5's right? Do you have the factory wheels?
Im interested, but 42" tires will be hard to fit....

My 35" BF Goodrich Mud terrains have gotten me out of every hole i was dumb enough to drive into....forward and reverse.....and these tires got who knows how many miles on em, i bought em used at a southside tire shop for 100 bucks mounted and balanced, if i had a 1000 dollars i would most definitly
buy the new version of these tires, they grab like crazy and look good too.

I had 35" bfg mud terrains on the '72 and was not impressed with them in mud. They were pretty good for everything else though, and really good for a tire that you need to put alot of street miles on.

I dont know what kind of mud you get into SwOkc, but I think Im going to need a little more than mud terrains. I already have 35's and want a little bigger, like 38-42. I know there are 37 mud terrains, but that involves getting 17's...

oh believe me i want bigger tires too, but as i said "IF" i had a 1000 dollars, but i dont and im currently satisfied with the 35's, they allow me to drive through the holes im pulling chevys (and even a few Fords) out of, and some of these trucks have bigger tires than I do, oh yeah.... last I checked the mud is just as deep in Oklahoma as it is on your side of the red river!

Rawpower,
They are 16.5's. Weld Scorpio wheels. 12 inches wide, 4.625" backspacing. The tires are only 41.5 inches tall and 17 inches wide (despite the 44x18.5 on the sidewall). I believe they might fit with 10 inches as long as you don't have running boards. You'll also need to trim the lower rear edges of the front bumper so the tires won't hit. They are good running tires...surprisingly quiet and very well balanced too. I have 16,5?? miles on them and three of them are still at 90-95% (9/16"-5/8")...NO KIDDING!!! The other one needs to be replaced. It was on the right rear all of its life due to an out-of-round problem and it's down to about 1/4" tread left. The three good ones were rotated ONCE in the 16K miles and you'd never know otherwise. I was kind of thinking of keeping them, but the other side of my peanut brain says sell 'em. I don't know what to do. If you're interested, lemme know. If not, that's ok. Again, I'm not sure if they'll fit. If you can find ANYONE that will allow you to try a tire off of their rig, DO IT. That's what I did...and it has saved a lot of time and money knowing what doesn't fit and what will.

If I got these, Id have one of the biggest tires around here that I see regularly. 38 IROKs on a 04 350 are the largest common tire that I see a lot, but I have seen some 44's and things of the like.

Do you happen to know what the factory backspacing is for yours?

ALSO, the 10 inches isnt 10" of leaves, its 6" of leaves and 4" of shackle, front and rear. the front bumper is a replacement, and is well out of the way...

How much are you asking for them?
