When I run into trouble I ask my 9 yr daughter, she's amazing - vcr - dvd - etc...
My PS2 is direct wire to T.V. - wht / red / yellow/ then turn to cannel 99 which is also the video. bty when you get it rolling what game are you going to tackle??
is the tv a flat panel or a projection tv typically flat panels will have the separate control box//you may have to actually plug into the control box. Now, it is very possible that th video output on the PS2 is not working. best bet would be to try it on another tv setup. Actually best bet put the model number up and i'll see what i can dig up for you. I tshoot satellite systems over the phone and occasionally have to help folks hook up other stuff blind so i'm used to it
You are able to change the input on teh tv correct? as in do you get video1,2 ect on teh screen?
thanks everyone-
it worked on my tv, all i did was unhook it, and go to my g/f's house. ill try it on another tv at her house, and ill try to get the modle number of the TV set up.
when i had it plugged into the DVD player i had the DVD player on- without it on theres no TV. ( i think )
but like i said, using the thing i get audio but no video. and i can change it to auxilery, but then i get nothing.
when im at her house tommorrow ill try more, i might even go to a used gamer store and see if they have any suggestions, maybe buy a new red/white/yellow connector.
ok well then if no tv w/o dvd player on (lets assume so) then the Ps2 would need to connect to it, it's one of those dvd/surround units isn't it? also get the model of that dvd player too..
Part of the reason why my Ps2 has a RF adapter that allows it to connect directly to the back of the tv via the cable input. I know there is some sound quality loss, and maybe some video loss by doing this... but just about every TV i've ever had its worked flawlessly with.
Let me break it down for ya. S-video is out of the question, simply because you don't have the wire.
A-V (Audio-Video) outputs are as follows:
Red- Right Sound
White- Left Sound
Yellow- Video
The "aux" button on newer TV's is a pretty heavily used button on most new big screens, due to the fact that it allows you to hook many different items (video game systems, dvd players, ect.) up to it permantly without having to rewire everything everytime you want to play a new system. <--- sorta complicated, sorry.
Plug all cords into the correct holes (yellow in video, red in "right", and white in "left") on video 1. Turn the TV on, aswell as the the DVD player (if it's not connected to the TV's power) and switch both to Video 1 using the aux button on your remote. Make sure all connections are good, and turn the playstation II on and play, play, play.
*You may have a bad wire/input on your video (yellow) cord, be sure to look it over carefully for exposed wire and/or bent plates on the end of the wire.* Also remember, if you have one of the sound (white or red) cords plugged into where the video (yellow) is supposed to be, you will get no picture and only half the sound your supposed to be getting.
Hope it all works out for ya
