desperatly need help!- thingys next to selinoid

next the the selinoid on my 87 ranger 4banger are two little round things that are wired in and have two vacuem lines that go to the tree on top of the manifold. i need to know if these lines are broken, can it cause the engine to not start?

thanx

i cant picture what "the two little round things" are at the moment but if you have broken vacuum lines then they most definately need to be replaced. that could cause the no start

just try plugging off those lines at the tree and see if it starts, one of them is probably a purge solenoid for the evap system and the other maybe for the cruise

Does it have a smog pump? If so, those are the bypass and air diversion solenoids. The other end of the vaccum lines go to the combination valve on the back of the smog pump.
