It sounds like a good swap. I looked into swapping my C6 for an AOD a while back. I didn't get into many of the details like shift linkage, throttle valve cable on the AOD, or driveline length differences though.
My conclusion was that, in my case, for use in a one-ton 4x4 for towing, the AOD would be too expensive to build right for greatest stength and reliability. I was reluctant to give up the tried and true C6 that's in my truck now.
For less strenuous use, I think it would be a great swap!
