Yet another disc brake question
I have a 1965 250 c/s 352-cruise-o-matic.It has 8 lug tires.I would like to keep them.Dennis says to use a 1974 f 150 donor for calipers and spindles.Does anyone know what years of the f 250 I could use?Which year is ideal..the one that will require the least amout of mods to do?I would like to find the best year donor for the brakes and buy the whole truck and remove the parts myself.I am also interested in a power steering set and would ideally remove that system from my donor truck. Are some years better than others for the 250 power steering/power disc brake swap?If Dennis or Kenneth are still around I would like to hear from you.I know that a few of you have done this swap on the 150 and would like to hear from someone who did it on a 1965 250.Thanx and have a great Thankgiving.

I run a 79 F150, trailer special chassis under my 66 F100. It has F250 size calipers, but they are single piston. It uses F250 size pads. It has 13 inch rotors, but they are not 8 lug. . . . F150 are all 5 lug on 5.5" pattern. I don't know why the article said to use F150 set up?
I've got a set of front power discs for a heavy F250 (above 6900 MGVW) with 8 lug wheels. One rotor is "bad", it can't be turned. I have the booster & pushrod, correct Proportioning valve, dual line set up, everything except the flex lines which I will cut so they can't be re-used again.
In fact I have the whole truck which I am going to part out further before I send it to crusher. Truck came from Pennsylvania & it's body is history after a several winters at Penn State U.
It is a '77 F250 Trailer Special, Supercab, SWB, Ranger XLT. It has a Saginaw Power Steering Box for the "Slipper Type" Saginaw Pump set up. The box works fine. There is a brand new center link on it also. I used pump on my 66/79 "resto rod" truck. It has 460 brackets etc. I run 460 in my 66. Pump set up would be useless for an FE or a 300 I-6 anyway.
I don't understand why you can't just use set up like I have off a F250? Why do you need to go through all that mix & matching nonsense? Especially since F150s are and have always been 5 lug wheels. I could see going that route if you wanted to change over to 5 lug wheels, matter of fact I've recommended people do that to get rid of 8 lug system & swap the Dana Rear for a 9" FoMoCo rear, to get 5 bolt wheels.
