ok i looked and i definitly have a C6, my chilton was wrong, surprise surprise, can anyone tell me what Tcase is in my truck, its a full time 4x4, the selector has 5 settings, lock-high-neutral-low-lock, what do these settings mean, my shifter linkage is broke so i can only get low or high with a crow bar, i like what u have ivanribic, with the dual tcase shifters, is that aftermarket or homemade??please help, i want to rebuild this truck right, and i want to use the original Tcase but im getting a loud thumping noise under power, especially in low range, is this fixable??
you have a New Process 203 (NP203). ivan's modifacation is both home made and factory. i believe he got the shifters from a Dana 300 and the transfercase he has is a NP205. He'll tell you the rest.

Reason: typo
My shifters were from JKW, not a D300 but they are similar. You could also make your own quite easily. If I had understood the whole setup 100% I would have just made them but since I didn't and I'm lazy I paid $100 to have someone else do it. You cannot twinstick a 203 as it is chain driven. I responded to your post in the tranny forum regarding the noises you're having. I don't think it's t-case related, I think it's binding in the u-joints when you make really tight turns. Let us know if this noise is coming from the front end or if you know that it's specifically coming from the t-case.
I would suggest that you keep an eye out for a 205 and swap that in so you don't have to worry about breaking or stretching chains. Plus you can twinstick it before you throw it in the truck. It will use the same adapter to mount to the C-6. But if the 203 is working properly that's not high priority right now.
PS If you click "Club FTE Member" by my user name it will take you to my site where I outline what's involved in twin sticking a 205.
NP 203 huh?? i was hopin it was a 205, so im gonna change it anyways now....i asked the previous owner about the noise because i too thought it was the ujoints but he replaced the ones in the axels with F-350 joints and i changed the driveshaft joints as well......it only makes the noise turning when i use a crow bar and shift to the lock position...but it does it most under power like when im in a deep hole or climbing a hill, and it really sounds like its coming from right underneath me.....so hopefully a nice NP205 will solve that problem.....thanx.....

hey are the 205s full time 4x4??? if they arent will it be safe to run my same hubs....i have no clue what the hubs are.... i thought they were autolocks till i found out the truck was full time 4x4.....
No, 205's are part time which is one more reason it would be a good switch for you.

Don't know what the reason is for this Aaron, but I believe my truck is 8100 also. Or maybe it's 8600 . . . my memory is failing me, big surprise there.

The hubs are probably solid units on a full time 4x4, you can run them but it is like running manual hubs in the lock position all the time, I run those on my race truck but I don't even have linkage on my transfer case it's just locked into 4lo all the time, so if I were you I would look into buying a set of manual hubs for it, or grabbing a sset from the wrecking yard for know if nothing else.
and Ivan you have probably killed more brain cells than alot of people ever had can't imagine why your memory would be slipping (wish I could find a smilly that had a lamp shade on it's head but this will have to do)
ill probably just leave the hubs, when im done with this truck he wont be seeing much pavement, aside from riding on a trailor above it!! its gonna be strickly off road, ill probably weld up my axels, but im thinking about running spools front and rear.....any input on these????
I run spools in both axles, and if strictly offroad I say definatly stay with the full time units they are solid one piece design so stronger. As far as welding it is cheaper, but spools for alot of different axles like the 9in are pretty cheap, lighter, and stronger
