Poor poor Vinnie!! 8-(

Well I just got back from dropping off the big Vin at the vet's! Today's the day he's going in for the big snip. We never mentioned anything to him so not to get him to nervous but hopefully he'll forgive me and he'll become even a better dog because of it! Any advice on any aftercare?? Thanks.

That can bring on sympathy pains just thinking about it! Animals seem to recover very quickly. Watch the surgery site for infection or opening up. The Vet will fill you in on what to do.

Yeah, he'll seem pretty down for a while but he's just recoverin'. I swear my dogs acted like they hated me for a while, nothin' a few treats wouldn't cure though. They healed up pretty quick too, were both up and at 'em in no time, a lil' bit lighter as well... ouch.

I think I felt worse than my dog when I had him fixed, I had some serious sympathy pains for him. He on the other hand was up running around the next day like nothing happened. Just watch the site for infection and make sure that he doesn't lick at it and he should be healed up in no time.

I have a chocolate lab that is just about three years old.

He has got to the point that he charges and growls at anyone he doesn't know. It is really more like he is scared of them and is just acting tough.

The other day I got a call that he was up the road growling at a kid.

Will getting him clipped change this. He really is a good dog but I can't have him biting anyone.

When we got our Terrier snipped, my dad insisted on replacing them with fake "nuticals"
He seems to be a happy dog!

mike does your dog get out enough? one of the most important things is they get used to being around strangers. i make my dogs sit and let the kids pet them so they learn not to get excited

i have a lab mix... he's a big one, one year old, very strong and very stubborn. he doesn't like being told to sit when he'd rather be climbing all over me and i still have to keep him on a leash so he doesn't run up to people.

but i'm not going to have his nuts cut off just for being what he is. he's still very young and it's my job to teach him to be good. if i can't deal with him the way he was made then that's my problem and maybe i shouldn't have a dog.

websthes,
I got him when he was weaned

He's out all the time. It is just when he sees a stranger for the first time.
We live in the country and can have anything from a goat to a horse come in our yard same thing he gets very aggressive.
He is a very affectionate dog and loves to play but I can't get him past this.

When I get hold of him and make him meet a new person he is scared to death.

He nearly got killed by a sow pig when he was 10 months old. He almost died from broken ribs and internal injuries and I believe that formed part of the personality.

Basically, make sure your dog isn't licking his stitches off. You don't want them coming undone.

Our dog actually took the big snip better than our old cats.
