Grill insert for '04 Scab????
Hi all,
I have a '04 Scab 4x4 with the bar-style front grill. I am not happy with the look of it. To much black plastic for me.
I wish to replace it with a chrome grill. I really like the Speed Grill from Street Sceen but after calling Moss Motors about it, they claim that I need to first replace the bar-style grill to a honeycomb style (Lariet) from Ford. This really doesnt make sense to me. Why buy 2 grills both honeycomb?
Can anybody verify or give comments about what they have done in a similar situation? Feel free to post pics if you have them or direct me to your gallery.

I think the reason they tell you to buy the one is because their (aftermarket company) grille needs to have something against the back of it, which needs to be the honeycomb grille. I could be wrong on this but I think after looking at some of them myself that is how it is done.

are you looking to replace the grille (bars and all) or are looking to keep the bars and add some shine?
I think the reason that moss motors told you that you needed to buy a honeycomb grille first is because the Speed Grille from Street Sceen that you are looking at is probable a bolt over and not a replacement grille and they are correct in what they told you. Since you have the FX4 style grille w/ bars you cannot get a full bolt over grille because the bars are in the way.
You can do what they suggested and but a honeycomb grille and then the bolt over that you want, you can buy inserts for your existing grille (they fit over your existing honeycomb - between the bars) or you need to buy a full replacement grill which requires removing the current grille, bars and all.
I went with the black inserts from carriage works but they also come in brushed and polished aluminum, you can see them in my gallery. The also have the full replacement grill in black, brushed and polished.
Don't forget the bumper grille.
