import question

my son is looking to buy a 2000 celica, and I think it has 16" wheels on it. He wants to get winter tires and rims, can he put 15" rims on a car that has 16" wheels on it? will it mess with the computer. I'm not sure about the newer stuff thanks Randy

if the 15 inch wheels will clear the brakes, just put a taller profile tire on, so it is the same overall height as the 16's. I'm not if it will clear the brakes though.

If there is a 15" factory option for the celica, go for it.

If you get the factory listed size, assuming there is a 15" option, the stealership can reprogram to read the speedometer correctly.

Go for it...and don't say I never did anything for you! :P

www.tirerack.com is another good source of info regarding wheel fitment. The site will automatically give you size options that will fit.

But my gut feeling is that very few cars have brakes large enough to require 16" wheels. Generally performance cars only... and a 2000 Celica is not a performance car...
