I would like to know where new chrome instrument panels with gauges can be bought. I have a 65 but like the 66 and have an instrument panel that is good but faded out. Can It be rechromed or is it cheaper to buy a new one. Thanks Curtis
You can buy replacement instument panels for all years of fords at LMC truck. I dont know if you can buy them cromed though. I have a 66 and am trying to find a different instument panel for it as well. Search the junkyards thourghly. I am looking for a instument panel from an old ford car.
Try Mr G's Chrome Plastic (I think they are still around), they used to do the dashes on an exchange basis. They advertise in Hemmings.
There are no 'new' ones out there being made.
They must be replated by someone who does plastic, not metal. This is difficult to find.
As a temporary or budget measure, I redid mine by painting it with 'chrome' paint. Normally this stuff looks like crap, but with the engine turning molded into the CC dash panel it actually turns out pretty respectable. I was very surprised and pleased.
I have a 66, which can be seen in the gallery under ole red 66. I dont need my instrument cluster rechromed but I am looking for advice on repairing the sweep style speedometer. I took it apart and it appears the spring is shot. Has anyone out there rebuilt one? I am up for the task if I can find the right parts. Also I really like the the etched (turned) trim around the cluster. I would love to get hold of some of the stuff to make a nice stereo surround in my glove box and to possibly use as accent pieces on the doors. Does anyone know what the stuff is called and where to find it?
All Try CV Vacuum Platers @7160 Beatty Drive Mission BC Canada. Telno is 604-820-9571. They have experience with replating all models of inst panels. Was there yesterday, and they know their stuff really well. Do a Google search on their name, as they have a very comprehensive web site and you will see that they are set up receive your item in Sumas WA and then they deal with all the Customs stuff for you. Jeff
Thanks for the imformation. I have seen several on this site that look really good. I will check them out. 19jim66, I think I have a spare speedometer that you could have if you want to pay the shipping. I will look this week end and let you know. Curtis

19jim66 I do have a spare speedometer that you can have. I have not been a member long enough to send you an e-mail but if you will post only your street address and zip I will send it to you. Curtis
The chrome panel from a older custom cab in a salvage yard is what I used. It looks great. I also took the lower chrome peice that is behind all the switches, under the dash, to make it that much better.
