My dad just got a 1999 Ranger. I am looking to pickup a factory cd player. Any help out here amongst the Ford brethern. BTW anything to watch out for with this model year. stats 3.0l 4dr supercab auto/air
Just A Word Of Advice. I Have A 98 Ranger That Came With The Factory CD Player Installed. I have no idea if this is common among factory deck's in the Ranger but the built in amplifier tends to fade in and out any music which is in the lower frequency range. This was a letdown when it came to installing subwoofers as I basically had to throw the stock CD player to the curb.
I've since installed a laptop computer stereo system and am now still running my stock mid range speakers which are performing much better than expected at high volumes with very little distortion.
This could have been a flaw in my particular unit but i would always suggest going with an aftermarket CD player rather than a stock model
I have a '99 Ranger with the factory CD unit in it. So far I haven't had any problems with it. As a couple of others have said go with a factory unit, everything already has the wire hook-ups basically plug it in and go
I've actually got one for sale if you are interested. I recently had my friend put in a Pioneer 6300 deck. It's the stock Ranger CD player. E-mail me at serendipity914(No Email Addresses In Posts!) if you're interested. I'd like to get rid of it because I am going on a cruise early in March and a little spending money wouldn't hurt. If I don't hear from you in a few days on here or in my mailbox, I'll just put it on eBay.
I have a 2001 Ranger with the stock radio, which is powerful for a stock, but tends to overheat (if you have the volume up more than half way) which causes skipping in the cd player... I'm replacing it ASAP with a Pioneer or similar aftermarket make...
