With all the talk in the news these days, I was just wondering....
What are your seat belt usage habits?
Comments and discussion are solicited.
Thanks.
I must say i use the seatbelt all the time. It is just habit, I don't even think about it. The fine and the possible consequences' of an accident are just not worth it. Plus the seatbelt law here in Ontario has been in existence since I have.
Although I do question that amount of protection the lap belts in my 1976 provide, I really should convert to the shoulder system.
Any input about lap belts and there safety abilities would be great. They switched to the shoulder system in 1977 or 1978 in the F-100's in Canada. I belevie that they may have been an option before 1977/78, correct me if I am wrong.
I failed to mention: I always, without exception, ALWAYS wear a seat belt. Driver, front seat passenger, back seat, anytime, anyplace, if I'm traveling in a vehicle, I have my seat belt on.
i also wear mine all the time, anytime i am in an auto.i started doing so when i was 18, i was driving to work one morning and there was a big wreck on the highway, as i passed it i saw a fireman pulling a white sheet over the second body that was laid on the ground(there was already one covered) and i thought to myself "you know, if i am ever in an accident, i might as well not die", click.....
I used to never wear my seat belt, but after driving so much and experiencing how people drive so wrecklessly (and after getting pulled over for not wearing it once), I wear mine all the time now.
All the time, no exception. It seems so dumb to not wear one.
And since three of my friends were injured, not to severly, just because they weren't wearing seatbelts, I won't stop and think, "should I wear it today, or not"
I've always worn mine. What makes me remind others was when we responded to the scene of an accident where a mother and her daughter didn't wear their seatbelts. I can still hear the daughter's screams when I think about it.
I got into the habit and if I go out to move the car to the back yard I buckel up.
I put some gauges in my truck one day and went to move and relized my seat belt was buckled.
In Indiana, since you don't have to wear one in a truck, I don't--in town. On the highway, or in any other vehicle, I always put it on (mainly because you can get pulled over for it now, and I flipped a car once without injury because I had one on). I got a kick out of the dirty looks from the cops as I drove through a Seat Belt Enforcement Zone today in my truck without one on.
a 76 pickup with asmooth vinyl bench seat is my main excuse for putting it on. its the only thing that keeps me from sliding all the way to the passenger side around corners. oh....and i guess it's safe or sumthin .
I always wear mine when i'm driving, but i sometimes need a reminder when i'm a passenger in the back seat. but i rarely am in somebody elses vehicle.

So I voted "Most of the time".

I believe that you can't get pulled over for no seat belt but you can get a ticket if you get pulled over for something else. I may be wrong or that may just be in Kansas.
