Morning Smoke

I am getting a fair amount of smoke in the morning on the first crankup for the day. After that I don't notice any appreciable amount. Just replace the glow plugs, GPR, Cam Sensor, oil and fuel filter on Saturday. Any ideas on what to look at next?

This sounds like a glow plug problem. Did you check the system after replacing the parts to make sure it is operating. ( power in and out of the GPR ) What are the temps in your area? Does it still do this if it is pluged in at night? year model and mileage ?

Didn't check afterwards, took it for granted. Last night was about 50-55. Haven't plugged it in since I am in Ga and it hasn't been enough cold here really. It is a 97 with 155,000 on it.

Check the 2 large posts on the GPR. Have someone cycle the key, you should have power on both terminals during normal cycle.

thats normal, a diesel engine is just going to smoke at a cold start-up b/c the engine is cold & not at normal operating temperature sooo, when it first cranks its not going
to burn all the fuel that enter's the engine, thus causing it to smoke a bit til it's been
runnin for 30 seconds or so then it should be cleared up. Unless it's colder.

My '96 PSD will crank out a bunch of white, to light-gray smoke on start-up (I think my glow plugs are starting to die). On chilly mornings, when my PSD is idling, the exhaust will be visible (a light blue) until the engine is up to normal operating temperature. Almost all powerstroke diesels, new and old, will smoke on start-up as well as when the engine is cold--this is totally normal and nothing to worry about.

My 00 acts just like D.S's 96, puts out a nice cloud of white/light grey smoke when first started, and there's a blue tinge to the exhaust until it warms up.
It's just the nature of the beast, and I think I have a couple of glows on their way out, it cranked up first try unassisted(waited for the WTS light, and that was it) this morning(15F) but, it wasn't running the smoothest when I bumped it up to 1600 and ducked back into work...
