I would need to double check the cost, but I think I paid $700 to paint the mirrors, door handles, and tailgate handle. The quote didn't breakdown the cost for just mirrors. As far as the surface, I don't see that it will be a problem. The methods for painting plastic surfaces has really improved. Basically, primers and paints developed specifically for plastic have really helped. In this case, I believe they used primer for plastic and regular paint.
I have a boat that had a plastic livewell that I had painted. Even submurged in water there is no problem with peeling, chipping, or anything. I do try to be careful with the door handles only because they get used so much and wearing rings could scratch them. Otherwise, I don't think too much about it.
I received a 2005 Ford Factory Accessories Catalog and on the front they had what appeared to be a Lariat F-150 with chrome mirrors that was different from the black ones they come out with. Of course the mirror wasn't shown in the catalog.
I'm just wondering if any one has seen this. It was a sharp looking housing with some angles that gave it a unique shape.
In 2004 the F150 was offered in 5 trim levels, XL, XLT, STX, FX4, and Lariat. You cannot have a Lariat FX4. In 2003 you are correct you could buy a Lariat and add the FX4 package. By the looks of your truck, you have either a FX4, STX, or XLT unless you change you grill surround.

That is correct. You can not have an FX4 that is also a Lariat. It's one or the other, and it sounds like it's an FX4.
