I've used my Snap On 1/2 ratchet to remove lug nuts from my Ford F-250 as well as disassemble the suspension on my '71 Vette without any problems. The Vette suspension is what wiped out my old Craftsman 1/2 ratchet and convinced me to give Snap On a try;-)
While I've never owned an S-K ratchet I do own two sets of their sockets I've had for 25+ years and never had any problems them!
The trick is to purchase only the Snap On or Mac tools you use on a daily basis. Purchase the other less used wrenches/sockets from another reliable source (Craftsman or Husky or other sources) and replace them with Snap On/Mac only when they "Die" or the use increases.
I do suggest high use or high torque wrenches/sockets be from Snap On/Mac. But only buy the one wrench/socket not the whole set.
I use the name Snap On and Mac but there are other quality companies on the market. Matco comes to mind because they are starting to comeback in my area!
